The Markets Initiative is dedicated to finding practical solutions to preserve the world’s ancient forests. A coalition project of three environmental organizations (Friends of Clayoquot Sound, Greenpeace Canada and Sierra Club of BC), we work with Canadian companies to reduce their consumption of ancient forest products. By doing so, the Markets Initiative is helping to stimulate a growing market for environmentally sound paper and wood alternatives within Canada.

While only a couple of years old, The Markets Initiative has already successfully partnered with some of Canada’s largest companies, located all across the country. While national in scope, The Markets Initiative has the added perspective of being headquartered in Tofino, at the center of Clayoquot Sound and BC ancient rainforest issues.

Our goal is to help reduce the consumption of ancient forests around the world.
