The Globe and Mail, Report on Business, Friday, June 11, 2004 - Page B4 Magazines to stop using old-growth paper The publishers of 34 Canadian magazines have promised to stop publishing on paper that comes from old-growth forests. Among the publications that say they will no longer use paper made from "ancient and endangered forests" are Canadian Geographic, Cottage Life, Harrowsmith Country Life, Owl, The Walrus, and University of Waterloo Magazine. The move was initiated by conservation group Markets Initiative, which has also been pushing book publishers to make the switch. |
